As the new year begins, all will start anew. At the moment of ringing out the old year and ringing in the new, on behalf of the leadership of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, I would like to send the most heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to all the friends, alumni at home and abroad, retired comrades as well as diligent students and teaching staff still at the School.
2020 was an extraordinary year due to the unexpected COVID-19 outbreak. Under the leadership of the University’s Party Committee, the School prioritized the safety and health of all, united the efforts of all and took all-round, strict and thorough measures to combat COVID-19. Students and teaching staff, united together, completed works of teaching, scientific and research, postgraduates enrollment and cultivation and subject construction, starting a new chapter in the School’s course of development. Besides, works such as remote teaching, interview, graduate thesis defense and proposing national first class undergraduate major were carried out smoothly, research funding reached a new high, and the School’s first national-level young talents project was approved, to name a few.
2021 marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China, the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the pivotal year of implementing Double First Class Initiative, and a fresh start in building a great modern socialist. To this end, we will strictly implement the University’s guidelines, start advancing the new round of Five-Year Plan, firmly stick to fostering virtue through education, make patriotism permeated the education, and cultivate talents for the Party and nation. In 2021, we will continue to take strict control and prevention measures against COVID-19, strengthen the moral building of teaching staff, gather outstanding talents, learn from the noble quality of Huang Danian, and put more focus on talents cultivation, scientific research and discipline development. We will transform more research results into outcomes and cultivate more excellent pharmaceutical talents so as to contribute to moving on to all-out efforts to build a great modern socialist country.
In 2021 New Year Address, President Xi Jinping said, “Greatness is forged in the ordinary. Heroes come from the people. Every person is remarkable!” We believe that 2021 will be full of hope and harvest. With original aspiration and founding mission in mind, we will brave winds and waves for our beautiful dreams, creating more brilliant accomplishments. Here, I hope all teaching staff, students, alumni, and friends will harvest more achievements and happiness.
