As the new semester approaches, in order to plan and design teaching for this semester, and improve teaching management and quality, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) invited the education and teaching medical supervision panel to offer advice and consultation on undergraduate and graduate teaching. The meeting, which took place on the morning of March 5, 2021, was presided over by Ma Jie, dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Professor Guan Qingxiang, deputy dean in charge of teaching affairs, reported on the School’s teaching plans for this semester, and invited the panel of experts to give detailed feedback on the plans of all the teachers with lessons in the 2021 spring semester. Meanwhile, experts from the panel, including Li Yi, Gao Zhong Li, Zhang Jie, Hou Zhifu, Sui Dayun each gave their remarks, and engaged in deep discussions with our faculty representatives over topics such as construction of course ideology and politics, merging ideological and political elements into the courses, faculty team improvement, teaching quality monitoring and cultural development, teaching archive establishment, teaching mode for graduates, teaching through practice, talent nurturing, teaching plans, among others. While giving due acknowledgement and encouragement for the teaching results SPS has achieved, the panel also gave detailed explanation and guidance on issues found and questions asked by the faculty. Finally, panel leader Wu Yuntao spoke on behalf of the panel, and offered valuable advice on constructing ten items, including School philosophy, professional majors, course ideology and politics through four key aspects, “course ideology and politics as a focus to start with”, “finding the right direction and exerting effort through the actual teaching process”, and “internal and external teaching reform for reference”.
Party Secretary Qu Yuanli and Dean Ma Jie participated in the meeting and thanked, on behalf of the School, JLU’s teaching supervision panel for their long-standing attention and support to SPS’s teaching endeavors. They also stated that the School will internalize the feedback and advice from the panel and turn them into important reference for the next step in enhancing teaching reform, teaching quality and talent nurturing management. Grasping the opportunity that constructing national first-class undergraduate majors offers, SPS will deepen teaching reform, actively promote the building of course ideology and politics, and improve the quality for teaching and talent nurturing.
A total of 21 participants, including Deputy Dean Guan Qingxiang, Deputy Dean Cao Xia, Deputy Dean Wang Yi, faculty representatives from all teaching and research offices, and faculties from clinical pharmacy practice and teaching bases of the First Hospital of Jilin University, the Second Hospital of Jilin University and China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University attended the event. They believe that the all-round instructions from the supervision panel are conducive in the next step of the teaching reform.
